Performing a Download onto Floppy Disks

When should I download an installation program to floppy diskettes?
Download files to diskette when you be downloading a program that will be installed on a different computer than the one you are on now.

What is different about floppy diskette downloads?

Floppy disk downloads on this site consist of groups of individual files (small enough to fit onto 1.44MB floppy diskettes) that can be used to perform an installation of a program. Downloading files to diskette is useful when you be downloading and installation that will be installed on another computer. If you do not download all files in a download group, then the installation program will NOT work.

Note: It is recommended that you print out these instructions or save them on your computer.

Downloading Updates to Floppy Disks

1. In order to perform a download onto floppy diskette, you will need the total number of blank IBM compatible floppy diskettes noted in the download option's information.
2. Label each of the diskettes starting with Disk 1. It is helpful to label the diskettes prior to beginning the download procedure to reduce potential confusion.
3. Insert Disk 1 into your floppy drive.
4.
Using your mouse, point at the first file of the download group (it will be labeled Disk 1) and right-click. The following popup menu appears:

5. Select the menu option Save Target As and left-click.
6. The Save As browse dialog should appear. Select to save the file on your floppy drive (typically shown as 3 1/2 Floppy (A:)) in the field labeled Save in:.

7. Once the floppy drive is selected, select the Save button and the file will be saved directly onto Disk 1 (it is highly recommended to save the file using its default file name).
8. Once the file has completed downloading, remove the Disk 1 and insert Disk 2.
9. Repeat steps 4 - 8 for the remaining files to be downloaded from the download group.
10. Once all files in the download group have been successfully loaded onto floppy diskettes, you are ready to run the installation or update just downloaded..
  Important Note:

In order for the download to work properly, it is highly recommended that the default file names be used. All files related to the same download group must all have the same filename (i.e. catalogd.exe and catalogd.w01)). Please also note that the file extensions CANNOT be changed (i.e. catalogsd.exe and catalogd.w01, etc...). These conditions must be met or the downloaded files will not work.
