5 Key Items That Your E-Commerce Site Must Have

Having an E-Commerce site for your customers to purchase at their convenience is great. Allowing your customers to quickly complete the buying process online is even better. The Uniform Solution WebStore is included in your subscription to help your business run 24/7.

That being said, it is vital that you protect your customers’ sensitive information. Below are 5 important items that you must have on your E-Commerce site if you are processing credit cards.

1. Privacy Policy

A Privacy Policy is very important and is a law that the businesses must adhere to. A privacy policy basically discloses the way that a business gathers, uses, and manages customer information. Many businesses use a generic one and it can easily be included on your E-Commerce site. Typical privacy policies include the following sections: Collection of Information, Cookie/Tracking Technology, Distribution of Information, Commitment to Data Security, Accuracy of Information, and Privacy Contact Information.

To insert a privacy policy page with the sections listed below:

  • In The Uniform Solution program, select the Arrow on the WebStore Icon
  • Select Content Page List
  • Double-click Privacy Policy on the Name tab
  • Select the Section > New Content Section
  • In the Type section, select Heading 3
  • In the Text box enter the title of the section. In this case, it'll be Collection of Information
  • Select Next
  • A new box will appear, in the Type section select Paragraph (smallest)
  • Type the desired policy in the Text box.
  • Select Next and repeat steps 4-7 until all of the sections have been added
  • After typing the text for the last section, Privacy and Contact Information, select OK to close the dialog box.

2. Refund/Cancellation Policy

This is a no-brainer really, and probably something that you already have. If you already have a store wide policy of how you handle refunds and order cancellations, you just need to simply extend that your website. It’s important to have this because it protects you and sets the proper expectations for your customers. If know ahead of time that I must leave all tags connected to my product if I want to return it, I’m likely to not remove the tags until I’m sure the fit is perfect.

A good place to insert this type of policy might be on Privacy Policy page, because it is accessible on every page of your website. To add this section to your WebStore, in The Uniform Solution program:

  • Select the Arrow on the WebStore Icon
  • Select Content Page List
  • Double-click Privacy Policy on the Name tab if you already have one listed
  • Select Section > New Content Section
  • In the Type section, select Heading 3
  • In the Text box, enter the title of the section. In this case, it'll be Refund/Cancellation Policy
  • Select Next
  • A New box will appear, in the Type section, select Paragraph (Smallest)
  • Type the desired refund/cancellation policy in the Text box.
  • Select OK to save your changes.

3. Products and the Corresponding Pricing Listed

Another no-brainer. You’re already doing this, but it’s important to mention. Properly displaying the price with the correct items is the easiest way for your customers to shop. Your customers expect to see the price, so just continue displaying it and all will be well in the online retail world.

 

 

 

 


4. Telephone Customer Service Number Within a "Contact Us" Section

Customers should be able to effortlessly contact your business. This is industry standard and something that we have all come to expect. Including your business information in an easy-to-find location will build trust between the customer and your business.

  • Select the Arrow on the WebStore Icon
  • Select Content Page List
  • Double-click Contact Us on the Name tab if you already have one listed
  • Select Section > New Content Section
  • In the Type section, select Heading 3
  • In the Text box enter the title of the section. In this case, it'll be Contact Us or maybe the Location of your business.
  • Select Next
  • A new box will appear, in the Type section, select Paragraph (smallest)
  • Type the desired contact information in the Text box.
  • Select OK to save your changes.

5. Shipping & Handling

Shipping and Handling is something that customers look at closely, so displaying it on your site is important. Even better if you allow your customers to choose their shipping method. Customizing your shipping options is easy with The Uniform Solution WebStore Setup Wizard.

To begin, you’ll need to create the options that you want to offer.

  • Select Setup > Shipping Options
  • Select Option > New Shipping Option
  • From here, create your desired shipping option using the Rate Calculation option to calculate how much to charge.
  • Once that’s complete, select the WebStore tab and type the name of the option (most likely the name that is on the General tab)
  • Select OK to save the Shipping Option
  • An active screen entitled, “No Departments Selected” will appear. Select “No”.

Now that you’ve created your shipping options, it’s time to add display them on the WebStore. Shipping options can quickly be added to the WebStore.


  • Select the Arrow on the WebStore Icon > Setup WebStore
  • Double-click to open the Active Configuration
  • Select Shipping Options located under the Shopping Cart section located on the right
  • All of the previously created shipping options will be displayed.
  • Simply use the Add button to add the desired shipping options to the Shipping Options Included section.
  • Select Save under the Configuration section

Keeping your E-Commerce safe for your customers is important to the integrity of your business. Adding these few key things to your site, are required and will only help you in the long run.
