Setup and Installing theTMU200 Serial Printer
To use this printer with The Uniform Solution program, you must set the dip switch on the printer, and use a Generic Windows Print Driver. You will also need a small phillips screw driver, a small flash light, a magnifying glass and a pair of tweezers close at hand.

Configuring the Dip Switches

Turn the printer off. Remove any paper in the printer. Unplug the power supply and the printer cable from the back of the printer. Turn the printer over and remove the bottom metal plate. When you remove the plate, you will see two (2) rows of dip switches (see diagram). Locate the row of dip switches labeled DSW1 (this is where the small flash light and magnifying glass come in handy). Once you have located the row labeled dip switch DSW1, flip the #3 dip switch UP, which is the ON position. Only the #3 dips switch should be in the ON position. Do not change any switches on DSW 2. Secure the plate to the bottom of the printer, turn the printer over and reconnect the power supply and printer cable. Install the receipt paper and turn the print on.

Click on Start > Settings > Printers > Add Printer and follow the prompts. When you get to the screen requesting you to select a manufacture and a printer, select Generic under the Manufacturer's column, and Generic/Text Only under the Printer column; click Next. If a screen appears asking if you want to keep or change the current driver, click replace existing driver and click Next.
Type in a name for your printer. It is best to name the printer with a name associated with the printer you are installing (e.g., Epson Receipt). This makes it easier if you need to troubleshoot a problem with the printer later on; click Next. Select NO to the print test page and then click Finish.

Next you will need to set the Flow control for the printer to Hardware. To do this, follow the steps outlined below.

  • Go to Start > Settings > Printers. Right-click on the Epson printer and then left-click on Properties.
  • Left-click on the Port Tab to bring to the forefront
  • Left-click on the Configure Port button.
  • Set the Flow Control to Hardware and click Apply and OK, then click Close.
  • To test your printer, right-click on the Epson and left-click on Properties. Click on the Print Test button.
